ORIGINS

Our research team is the result of several previous joint projects. This is a multidisciplinary and international group formed after the experience of many years of fruitful collaboration. It is possible to mention projects and experiments as:

TOMODEC, in where we developed our first active seismic experiment in the volcanic island of Deception (Antarctica)

TOM-TEIDEVS, our second active experiment in Tenerife Island (Canary Islands), with a new experience in the signal processing and data analysis.

MEDSUV and the TOMOETNA experiment where we used different oceanographic vessels from Spain, Italy and Greece and broad participation of international collaborators.

APASVO: The goal of this project was to apply advanced signal processing and automatic speech recognition techniques to the field of volcanic seismology building systems to detect and classify seismic events of volcanic origin.

KNOWAVES, this project was the origin of the idea of the use of Machine Learning and Intelligence Artificial in the seismic data analysis focused in the forecasting of volcanic eruptions.

FEMALE will establish a new universally applicable, exportable, simple, and useful methodology to forecast volcanic eruptions using continuous and labelled volcano seismic signals.

We will derive a new perspective on the relationship between seismic activity and volcano dynamics by focusing on producing successful volcanic eruption forecasts.
